The purpose of the University of Oregon Biosafety Program is to assist in protecting faculty, staff and students from exposure to biohazardous materials and guard against the release of biohazardous materials that may harm humans or the environment.

General Rules for Use
The Biosafety Program seeks to fulfill these goals by providing support for the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), managing the Bloodborne Pathogens Program, and consulting on exposure assessments for the Occupational Health Program.
EHS is available to assist with obtaining permits and shipping biohazardous materials, advise staff who work with biological materials, and oversee proper disposal of biohazardous wastes.
