General rules for use

EHS works to provide template standard operating procedures, laboratory setup guides, and facilitates access to laboratory management tools such as those provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

The University of Oregon Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) outlines policies and procedures in accordance with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1910.1450 standard and the Oregon-Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OR-OSHA) standard for Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories (Appendix A). The Laboratory Safety Manual and Chemical Hygiene Plan work in tandem to address safety concerns in the laboratory environment.
