Biological, Chemical, Radiological, and Laser Safety

Chemical Hygiene Plan

The University of Oregon Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) outlines policies and procedures in accordance with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 1910.1450 standard and the Oregon-Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OR-OSHA) standard for Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories (Appendix A). The Laboratory Safety Manual and Chemical Hygiene Plan work in tandem to address safety concerns in the laboratory environment.

Biological Safety Manual

The University of Oregon Biological Safety Manual outlines appropriate practices, university policies, and regulatory requirements for working safely with biological, biohazardous, and recombinant materials. The Laboratory Safety Manual and Biological Safety Manual work in tandem to address safety concerns in the laboratory environment.

Radiation Safety Manual

The University of Oregon Radiation Safety Manual outlines the procedures necessary to demonstrate compliance with the University’s license for use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing machines. It also provides the basic guidelines and procedures for safety that will protect workers, facilities, the general public and the environment. The Laboratory Safety Manual and Radiation Safety Manual work in tandem to address safety concerns in the laboratory environment.

Laser Safety

The Laboratory Safety Manual does not encompass specific hazards and risks of work involving lasers on campus. Please refer to the Laser Safety webpage at http://safety.uoregon.edu/laser-safety-program for guidance.
