After years of receiving regular calls inquiring about battery recycling, EHS provided its guidance to campus about disposing of alkaline batteries.
As indicated in the March 21 AroundtheO story, alkaline batteries can be tossed in the trash.
According to Craig Biersdorff, hazardous waste specialist, the goal of sharing the information is to encourage campus to be thoughtful about batteries when they are being purchased and to choose recycleables.
Annually, hazardous waste recycles and disposes of more than 40,000 lbs. of campus materials.
