Traveling internationally involves various risks. The best way to mitigate these risks is to plan ahead and be prepared for any emergencies that may arise. The University of Oregon provides insurance coverage through Chubb to its employees, faculty, students, and others traveling internationally on behalf of the university. Travelers that are registered in Concur are automatically enrolled in this coverage.
If you are a faculty or staff member traveling with students, please complete the Division of Global Engagement International Travel Registration form prior to registering for insurance.
Students and Non-Concur Travelers
Student groups or individual student travelers who are not registered through Concur should contact Global Education Oregon (study abroad) prior to registering and enrolling in coverage through Risk Management. Students can request to have the cost billed to their student account. Coverage may also be secured for dependents and spouses if the UO employee registers and enrolls using the non-Concur Traveler Registration and Enrollment form. There is no cost for dependent travelers.
Enrollment and Costs
Enrollment and billing occur directly through Concur for staff and faculty. The cost of this insurance is $3.50 per person per day for up to 365 days. Individuals enrolled in the coverage may be eligible to extend the coverage for leisure travel that occurs before, during, or after their university-related travel for a maximum of 14 days.
Travel Benefit Card and Information
Prior to traveling outside the U.S., it is advisable for travelers to download and keep a copy of the travel cards. The insurance policy is renewed every fiscal year in July. It is important to note that benefits may undergo changes, so it is recommended to revisit this website before your trip to ensure that you have the most up-to-date versions of the documents. *The Office of Risk Management recommends that faculty, staff, and students register their travel plans with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy through the State Department’s travel registration website and enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency.
