June 16, 2026 | 1:30 p.m.

Eugene Springfield Fire Department responded to a small grass and brush fire at 12:14 p.m. today. The fire was west of the riverfront soccer field. ESFD remained on the scene to water down the area. 

The UO Fire Marshal team was also on site and in consult with ESFD and UO Police Department advised that an evacuation was not needed at this time.
