UO Alert Eugene: Day 1 of campuswide testing begins at 8:00 a.m.

August 12, 2026 | 7:30 a.m.

Day 1 of University of Oregon’s 2026 electrical testing begins at 8:00 a.m. today, August 12, 2026. Campuswide testing is scheduled to end around 7:00 p.m. A message will be sent when testing has concluded for the day.

What to expect: Facilities throughout campus may experience up to a 10-second power outage each time the system is tested throughout the two days.

This important test of campus infrastructure ensures that backup power systems are operational in the event that campus loses primary power. Preparation has been done to minimize impacts to classroom technology, servers, and sensitive lab equipment.

Technology impacts: Expect intermittent network outages. If you experience other outages, check the IT Service Status website. If that doesn’t address your questions, please submit a ticket through the UO Service Portal or contact the IT staff who support your unit.

All other reports or concerns should be directed to the Work Control Center in Campus Planning and Facilities Management at workcontrolcenter@uoregon.edu or 541-346-2319.

More information can be found on Campus Planning and Facilities Management’s Electrical Testing webpage.
