On Tuesday, July 14, at about 10 a.m., a UO student reported being grabbed from behind by a man on a bicycle. The woman was walking near Franklin Blvd and Villard Streets. According to the student’s report, other people in the area may have also been grabbed or touched by the bike rider.
The suspect is described as male with dirty blond hair, wearing oversized reflective sunglasses covering much of his face. He wore a tan/black tie-dye-patterned shirt with a logo in the middle.

What is this notice? Campus Crime Warnings are sent by the University of Oregon Police Department when certain crimes are reported on or near campus property, and in compliance with federal law. These advisories provide information for campus community members to take precautions for personal safety. All crimes should be reported as soon as possible to local law enforcement.
SAFETY TIPS FROM UOPD
No action or inaction by a crime survivor makes that person responsible for their victimization. Perpetrators bear sole responsibility for crimes and their effects. The following suggestions may help reduce the possibility of experiencing such a crime or may improve opportunities to receive prompt assistance.
- Be alert traveling to, from, and around campus – especially at night.
- Carry a well-charged cell phone with emergency numbers pre-programmed.
- UOPD can walk students, faculty, and staff to their vehicles in the parking lot, and to nearby bus stops. Call the UOPD non-emergency number at 541-346-2919.
- Communities are safest when members look out for each other. Report any suspicious activity or unauthorized strangers immediately.
- Be aware of your surroundings. If there are signs of a person in distress, offer assistance if it is safe to do so, and/or seek immediate help from UOPD.
- Report criminal activity immediately to 9-1-1, or for non-emergency situations on campus, to UOPD 541-346-2919.
