University of Oregon has a number of resources available internally and externally. These include trainings courses, tip sheets, checklists, best practices, and more. These resources are free to University employees and volunteers.

United Educators provides a myriad of training tools and resource guides on a variety of topics relevant to both students and university employees. Each course available is linked and described below. University of Oregon employees and students are encouraged to access these resources.

Training provided by United Educators will require a UO Duck ID in order to access the skillsoft portal.

    • Alcohol and You - This course is designed to reduce adolescent alcohol use and risk-taking behaviors.
    • Alcohol Awareness and Prevention Learning Program - The Know Your Limit learning program emphasizes a harm-reduction approach that teaches students who choose to drink ways to use alcohol responsibly. 
    • Avoiding Supervisory Pitfalls – This course is designed to help new and experienced supervisors recognize good supervisory practices while providing examples of common pitfalls to avoid.
    • Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act Learning Program - This learning program examines the new law that affects students and anyone who works for a college of university: what it is, why it's needed, how it affects you, and ways to get help for yourself or others.
    • Concussion Awareness Learning Program - This learning program is designed to educate coaches, staff, and students on recognizing and responding to the symptoms of concussions.
    • Contracting and Risk Allocation Learning Program - This learning program is dedicated to promoting good contracting practices at your institution and includes both introductory and advanced online courses.
    • Crisis Response Learning Program - This learning program helps your institution prepare, improve upon, and test your plan for responding to a wide range of potential internal crises that are unique to educational institutions.
    • Driver Safety Training - This course helps those driving on institution business to identify and mitigate driving risks, and learn specific strategies for handling potential accidents and other emergency situations.
    • Healthy Relationships – Through this course, students will be able to identify characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships and know how to respond to an abusive relationship.
    • Lasting Choices: Protecting Our Campus from Sexual Assault – This course gives higher education administrators an effective way to educate students on preventing and reporting sexual assaults.
    • Protecting Children Learning Program – This learning program indicates how to recognize, prevent, and report sexual misconduct against minors.
    • Short-Term International Programs - This course helps institutions prepare students and staff for safe and rewarding educational experiences around the world. 
    • Show Some Respect! Prevent Harassment – Through this course, students will be able to identify, report, and prevent harassment in order to create a respectful and safe learning environment.
    • START Learning Program for Higher Education - The START (Student Title IX, Alcohol, and Respect Training) program is designed to educate students on preventing alcohol abuse, dating violence and harassment.
    • Student Threat Assessment Teams - This course takes a closer look at what constitutes an effective threat assessment team and touches on important topics such as team composition, reporting, intervention, and documentation.
    • Teaching Science Safely - This course helps institutions manage and reduce risks by establishing comprehensive lab safety policies.
    • Workplace Harassment Prevention Learning Program for Higher Education - Train employees to prevent workplace harassment—it's both a legal mandate and the right thing to do. This learning program includes numerous resources for diverse learners.
    • Youth Athletics Learning Program – This course teaches how to keep athletes safe by recognizing and responding to common hazards in sports programs including concussions and heat illness.

     

     

    SAIF has a number of safety resources available, these are organized by safety topic. Employees may find some of the following resources helpful.

    SAIF also have a video library and training calendar. Some of the latest resources can be found on the Ergonomics page.  University of Oregon employees are encouraged to use these resources.

    • Checklist for Managing Study Abroad Programs in Independent Schools:  This checklist provides independent school administrators who oversee study abroad programs an overview of risk management considerations.
    • Checklist for Investigating Accidents Causing Personal Injury:  The good accident investigation practices found in this checklist can significantly reduce the chance of litigation or strengthen the institution’s defense when litigation does occur.
    • Checklist for Risk Management for Campus Student Events:  Reduce risk and likelihood of problems at student-run events with this checklist.
    • Checklist for Protecting Minors on Campus: Supervisors of employees who have regular or unsupervised access to minors need to understand their institutions’ reporting practices and potential warning signs for child sexual misconduct. This checklist will help supervisors compile necessary information.
    • Checklist for Camps on Campus Checklist: Directors of camps that are located at a school or college are often knowledgeable about the camp’s instructional program, but they may not be as familiar with the ways to protect themselves and the host institution from related legal liability and negative publicity.  This checklist provides camp directors step-by-step guidance to help minimize risks and increase the likelihood of a safe experience for campers.
